IRVINE, Calif. (Dec. 3, 2024) — The Orange County Community Foundation (OCCF) has announced that its iheartOC Giving Days have garnered a cumulative $30 million in charitable contributions to fuel the missions of local nonprofits. Launched as a single countywide day of giving in 2015, OCCF’s initiative has evolved into a year-long series of Giving Days, bringing together donors and nonprofits to address Orange County’s greatest needs. To date, the $30 million contributed has benefited 1,386 local nonprofits in their missions to support the county’s most vulnerable residents.

As the Orange County Community Foundation celebrates its 35th anniversary in 2024, this Giving Day milestone not only reflects the success of the past but growing momentum for the future. In 2024, OCCF’s iheartOC Giving Days attracted support from more than 7,892 donors and yielded $4.3 million for local nonprofits.

“Since our first iheartOC Giving Day in 2015, year after year, our neighbors have consistently risen to the occasion, contributing with generosity and compassion,” said Shelley Hoss, chief executive officer of OCCF. “The unwavering support and spirited involvement of our community inspire us to continue building a momentum for good in Orange County and beyond.”

OCCF’s iheartOC Giving Days use an online giving platform to match local donors to Orange County nonprofits with shared missions – from homelessness and workforce development to preserving ecosystems and supporting at-risk youth – to create momentum on a shared day of giving and leverage their collective outreach efforts.

OCCF’s Giving Days have raised a total of $30,236,553 since 2015. The first two countywide iheartOC Giving Days in 2015 and 2016 raised a combined total of $5,080,705. The new Collaborative Giving Day model launched in 2017 has raised $25,155,848 to date through the following annual Giving Days:

  • Empowering Possibilities (Disabilities): $811,299
  • Greatness Amplified (Youth): $2,405,842
  • Help Them Home (Housing and Homelessness): $12,250,967
  • Igniting Potential (Youth): $3,156,521

  • Protect & Preserve (Environment): $634,867

“The success of our 2024 Giving Days highlights the power of collaboration and the incredible impact we can achieve when we work together,” said Elaine Chen, director of donor and community engagement at the Orange County Community Foundation. “As we continue to build on this momentum, we are inspired by the generosity and dedication of our community members who are committed to making a difference.”
