Cox Partners With Saddleback College To Create a Talent Pipeline

Orange County, Calif. – January 24, 2022 – The Workforce Development Initiative is well underway thanks to the considerable support of the Orange County Community Foundation (OCCF) through its Henry W. & Ellen R. Warne Family Endowment Fund. The fund was founded to support educational institutions like Saddleback College in Orange County, California.

In 2021, Saddleback College was awarded a $150,000 grant to support the workforce development initiative, which will create a talent pipeline for in-demand, middle-skills jobs at Cox Communications. This initiative was designed to train target populations and industry sectors, like telecommunications, utilizing community partnerships. This initiative’s partners include, Saddleback College, Cox Communications, OCCF, Orange County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and Breakthrough San Juan Capistrano. The initiative’s goal includes filling in-demand jobs within Cox’s commercial and retail divisions.

“As an employer of choice for many, I am excited about our innovative partnership with Saddleback College to provide a new way to identify talent as we recruit for key roles within our business.  I’m confident that our partnership will help us fill high demand jobs for our commercial and retail divisions,” said Jodi Duva, vice president for Cox Business in Orange County. “As a company, we remain committed to innovation, investing in our infrastructure, enhancing the experience for residential and business customers, and attracting employees who are committed to making a positive impact in the communities we serve.”

Through Saddleback College’s Office of Economic and Workforce Development, training will be provided in customer service and sales/marketing at no cost to qualifying students from March through June 2022. The training program is designed to prepare students for careers at Cox Communications.

Israel Dominguez, director of economic and workforce development at Saddleback College, stated, “We are very pleased with being awarded the grant from the Orange County Community Foundation. It is a real privilege to have the opportunity to develop a customized customer service and sales training program to help build a talent pipeline for Cox Communications. The wonderful aspect about this project is that we will be creating career opportunities for students from underrepresented and socioeconomically challenged backgrounds.”
